Binder properties of treculia africana gum in immediate release metronidazole tablets

The study is aimed at investigating the binder properties ofTreculia africana seed gum in metronidazole tablets in order to find a suitable locally sourced alternative for use as pharmaceutical binder in tablet dosage forms. The treculia gum was extracted from the seeds of Treculia africana by defatting using chloroform and methanol in the ratio of 2:1 and cold precipitation in acetone using acetone/gum powder mucilage in the ratio of 3:1. Tablets of metronidazole containing 0 1, 2, 3 and 4% w/w concentrations of Treculia africana gum were prepared using wet granulation method.

Phytochemical and antimicrobial screening of various extracts of castor fruit-seeds (ricinus communis l)

The castor oil plant is a fast-growing, suckering perennial shrub or occasionally a soft wooded small tree up to 6 meter or more, but it is not hardy in nature. Two varieties of this plant are known a perennial bushy plant with large fruits and large red seeds which yields about 40 P.C of oil. A much smaller annual shrub with small grey (white) seeds having brown spots and yielding 37% of oil. It is one of the most important fruits worldwide because the castor oil obtained from the seed of the plant is still widely used traditionally and herbally as a medicine.

Replacing conventional energy sources of electricity with solar energy in the uk and iraq using statistical inference with hypothesis testing

Solar power represents a vast resource which could, in principle meet the world’s needs for low-carbon power generation many times over. Recent growth in the use of photovoltaic (PV) technology (of around 40% per year) and rapid reduction in its cost (20% per doubling of capacity) has demonstrated the potential of solar power to deliver on a large scale. Energy is a vital resource required for the operation of any business.

Comparative efficacy assessment of different surgical caps in the operating room

Background: Infectious agents have a strong correlation with peri-operative and post-operative complications1. Previous studies suggest that operating room staff sheds a large number of bacteria normally associated with skin particles into the air2. In the current study we attempted to analyze the efficacy of 4 different surgical caps that are most commonly used in the operating rooms today. The primary objective of this study was to determine the type of surgical cap that would most effectively contain bacteria contamination and prevent dispersion.

The lidocaine patch- can it help patients tolerate long term intubation

Objective: To relieve the discomfort caused by an endotracheal tube in situ, which is a major concern in the management critically ill patients requiring mechanical ventilation. To facilitate ventilation, avoid increased airway pressures due to agitation, and minimize the risk of self extubation, critically ill intubated patients need to be given adequate sedation. Sedation and analgesics when given facilitates the mechanical ventilation but tend to affect the sensorium. Data Sources: ICU Team, Medical Record. Study Selection: Selected intubated patients requiring sedation.

Variation of autonomic function tests in young healthy males & females

There is much clinical evidence to suggest that the activity of autonomic nervous system varies with gender . The present study was initiated and an attempt was made to bring out the association of autonomic functions with gender .Our cardiovascular system is governed by autonomic nervous system. Since women have a lower cardiovascular risk , this study is aimed to find out gender differences in the autonomic modulation. The study was carried out for 100 people (50 males and 50 females) in the age group of 17 – 25years.

Evaluation of colorectal wall thickening with computed tomography: a retrospective study of 20 patients

OBJECTIVES: This study was conducted to study the Computed Tomography (CT) characteristics of wall thickening in case of benign and malignant lesions of the colon and rectum, to evaluate the effectiveness of CT in differentiating benign and malignant colorectal lesions and to evaluate the role of CT in pre-operative tumor staging of colorectal malignancies. SOURCE OF DATA : Data was collected from 20 patients with wall thickening involving the colorectal region on CT, referred to the department of Radio Diagnosis.
