A case report: nonsyndromic familial oligodontia

Oligodontia designates the congenital absence of six or more permanent teeth, excluding the third molars. The etiology behind this may be environmental and genetics factors. Genes responsible for non syndromicoligodontia are found to be MSX1 and PAX9 genes.The present case report describes a case of multiple agenesis of permanent teeth in a 14 year old female, with a positive family history. On examination, there was no abnormality in either hairs or nails, perspiration was normal and no congenital clefts of lip or palate was seen.

Trends of ischemic heart disease in the uk and us after who guidance is implemented

Objective: Research was conducted to identify trends of ischemic heart disease in the United Kingdom and the United States. Evaluation of the World Health Organization (WHO) was researched to identify tools used to improve outcomes of ischemic heart disease in the United Kingdom, United States and lower income countries. Method: Reviews of literature from nursing data bases (CINAHL and Medline – Pubmed) with the terms heart disease, United Kingdom, United States, and World Health Organization were used.

Perspective on newborn abandonment in relation to gender: a single centre report

Son preference and its implication for skewed sex ratio is well documented phenomenon in India. The ways embraced to have son preference would be sex selection abortion, female infanticide and abandoning the female new born. Aims: To see effect of PCPNDT act over abandoned babies and various factor associated with abandoned babies. Study design: Retrospective cross-sectional descriptive study. Methodology: Study was conducted in Government Medical College and Hospital, Akola, and Lady Harding District Hospital for women, Akola (Maharashtra, India).

Sports drinks and its effect on teeth

A sports drink is a beverage designed to help athletes rehydrate, as well as restore electrolytes, carbohydrates, and other nutrients, which can be depleted after training or competition. Electrolyte and carbohydrate replacement promotes proper rehydration and energy production, which is important in delaying the onset of fatigue during exercise and helps in better sport performance. Sports drinks commonly contain phosphoric acid, citric acid, certain additives and organic acids that can advance dental erosion.

Effect of boiling and roasting on the nutrient and anti-nutrient contents in conophor nut flour

In the current study, the effect of boiling and roasting conophor nuts on the nutrient and anti-nutrient contents in the flour was investigated. The proximate analysis showed that the flour from raw nut is rich in protein content (54.49%). Flours from the boiled nuts and roasted nuts contained lower protein, fat and ash contents, but higher crude fibre, carbohydrate and caloric value than their values in the flour from raw nut.

Seroprevalence of hepatitis B (HBS AG) and hepatitis C (ANTI-HCV) viruses among Sudanese patients with HIV/TB co-infection

Background Tuberculosis (TB) and hepatitis viruses infection are the two common co-infections in patients infected with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C infections are common in Sudan where TB is endemic and HIV is prevalent. Since anti-retroviral drugs and some of the anti- TB drugs are hepatotoxic, in HIV/TB co-infected patients, the management may be difficult, thus early detection of these viruses will influence the outcome of the disease.

Drug utilization pattern of antiepileptic drugs and direct and indirect cost estimation in the treatment of epilepsy at tertiary care hospital

Purpose: Prescription pattern may have changed with advent of newer antiepileptic drugs. Cost of management remains the important reason responsible for treatment gap. Current study was done observe prescription pattern and cost of epilepsy management to the patients. Methods: A prospective observational questionnaire based cross sectional survey was conducted in neurology OPD for 12 months. A demographic profile and prescription data of AEDs for past 1 year were collected from diagnosed cases of GTC, CPS and SPS for at least 1 year of treatment.

Background: Cardiovascular diseases are the first leading cause of death for adult men and women in developed countries. Surprisingly in developing countries CVD also become the first leading causes responsible for one third of all deaths. Aims and Objectives: To evaluate the level of Seum GGT, S.uric acid and S. electrolyte in myocardial infarction patients. Material and Methodology:100 patients of MI and 50 age matched healthy controls are involved in this study. Estimation of GGT, Uric acid, S. electrolyte was done from all participant.
