Appraising efficacy of different sources of plant nutrients in improving soil fertility and root yield performance of cassava (manihot esculenta crantz)

The lingering problem of scarcity and high cost of synthetic fertilizers in Nigeria, following changes in Government policies on subsidy, procurement and distribution of inorganic fertilizers, has made inorganic fertilizers unaffordable by the resource – poor farmers, who, incidentally, are the chief food producers in Nigeria. Therefore, the need arises to critically evaluate the potential of certain organic wastes in maintaining and improving soil fertility and crop productivity.

Bioefficacy of plant extracts on inhibition of pythium myriotylum

Crude alcohol extract, 50% hydro-alcohol and aqueous extracts of 10 plants species belonging to 9 families were screened in vitro for antifungal activity against economically important phytopathogenic fungus, Pythium myriotylum which was isolated from infected ginger. Bioassays of the extracts were conducted by “Poisoned food technique” on agar plate culture with triplicates. Nine of ten (90%) plant species showed inhibitory activity against mycelial growth of the tested fungi.

Structural evidence for slip partitioning and inclined dextral transpression in the high zagros belt: aligoudarz area, nw iran

The High Zagros belt is a portion of the external zone of the Zagros orogenic belt. Structures of the High Zagros belt in the Aligoudarz area (NW Iran) are consistent with dextral transpressional deformation, which is related to the oblique collision between the African–Arabian continent and the Iranian microcontinent. The High Zagros belt in this area consists of NW-striking, dextral strike-slip Fault (Main Recent Fault) that are linked with imbricate fans and oblique-slip thrusts.

Mahatma gandhi global village a model of basic education: to teach self reliance & respect for manual labour

In the present scenario of education it is anomaly that education has not been able to give right direction to our youths and it does not provide them opportunities for their all round development or make them self reliant. In our country 80% of population is belongs to agriculture and 10% occupied in serving the needs of them. Now a days the students may pass and earn degree or degrees with first or higher division or may acquire the highest degree, but even though they does not become self reliant and unable to face the challenges.

Demand response for selected cooking fuels in oyo state

The high population growth and the low purchasing power of Nigerians dictate their demand. Therefore, this study evaluated demand response (elasticity) for cooking fuels, in the urban areas of Oyo State. The study analyzed; socio-economic characteristics of household, household expenditure on selected cooking fuels, own price, cross price and income elasticity of demand for selected cooking fuels. Systematic sampling procedure was employed to select 150 respondents (household heads).

Effect of different levels of vermicompost on growth and yield of radish cv. local variety

The present investigation was undertaken with the main objective of effect of different levels of vermocompost on growth and yield of Radish cv. Local variety. The experiment was laid out in randomized completely block design with five treatments and four replications. The experiment consists of five treatments involving application of vermicompost 0.3, 0.6, 0.9, 1.2 kg/ plot and control. The data clearly revealed that the yield obtained with treatment T4 (1.2 kg vermicompost + RDF + FYM) was significantly higher than all other treatments with respect to growth and yield i.e.

Effect of organic and inorganic fertilizer on growth and yield of paddy CV GR 11

The trial with three replications and six treatments was laid out in Randomized Block Design to assess the performance of different organic and inorganic fertilizer on growth and yield of paddy crop (Variety GR 11) during Kharif season. Different doses of fertilizers were applied to all the plots except untreated control. Application of 50 % N through RDF + 50% N through vermicompost recorded higher growth attributes like plant height was 42.2 cm and 118.1 cm, No.

Effect of vam fungi on enhancement of calcium in okra

The effect of VAM fungi on Calcium uptake in three cultivars of Okra was recorded by giving inoculation treatment of Glomus fasciculatum and Gigaspora gigantea. The data revealed that in cultivar Parbhani kranti, non-mycorrhizal plant has shown less amount of calcium uptake in mg per 100 gm, while the plants inoculated by Glomus fasciculatum and Gigaspora gigantea shown maximum uptake. In Arkanamika and Selection-51also the high amount of calcium was noted in mycorrhizal plants than in non mycorrhizal plant.

Fungi from different seed categories of chickpea

Seed is inhabited by numerous fungi; external and internal. These fungi cause alteration in seed shape, texture and color. These symptomatic morphological features are because of associated seed mycoflora of the seed. Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) seeds categorized as bold, shriveled and discoloured. Ten seeds of each category were placed on moist blotter and Agar Plates respectively and their seed mycoflora was recorded. Total sixteen fungi were recorded from all categories of seeds.

Effect of different levels of sucrose in vase solutions on post harvest solution uptake, florets diameter, vase life of spike of gladiolus cv. american beauty

The experiment was conducted at ASPEE, Agricultural Research and Development Foundation, Village Nare, Taluka Wada, District Palghar, Maharashtra, India. In this study, the effects of different levels of sucrose in vase solution treatments on post harvest solution uptake, florets diameter, vase life of spike of gladiolus cv. American Beauty were carried out.
