Lead (ii) removal from wastewater using modified biochar derived from rice husks and rice straws

Novel adsorbent was produced from rice husks and rice straw derived biochar. The adsorbent was synthesized by subjecting to pyrolysis agricultural waste and activated the product with thermochemical treatments to enhance its properties. The effects of alkali concentration, process temperature and reaction time on the agricultural waste derived biochar were assessed and results showed that the activation of biochar enhanced its specific surface area by 58.5 to 220.8 square meter per gram.

Which impression for which clinical situation in fixed prosthesis?

Dental impression is a crucial step in the making of a fixed prosthesis. It must accurately transmit the morphological and dimensional data of the dental preparations to the dental technician. The diversity of clinical situations leading to a variety of impression techniques and the multiplicity of increasingly efficient materials exposes the practitioner to a confusing situation while choosing impression’s materials and techniques.

Advances in research on the pathogenesis of osteoarthritis

Osteoarthritis(OA)is one of the most common joint disorders. OAseriously threatens human health and life, it has been an important subject of orthopaedic science. Although the investment in the early treatment of osteoarthritis and inhibiting the developing direction is largerin the past20 years, it has not obtained great progress in drug treatment. In spite of thearticular cartilage of physiology, biochemistry and metabolism of chondrocyte have a certain understanding, but the etiology and pathogenesis of osteoarthritis is still not very clear.

Ganglion cyst of anterior cruciate ligament: a case report and review

Ganglion cyst of Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is rare and is lack of specific symptoms and signs, as a result, it is not easy to be diagnosed. In this study, we reported a 35-year-old male with presumed ganglion cyst of ACL, the case was demonstrated by MRI and further confirmed by arthroscopy and pathology. In order to avoid recurrence, complete resection of cyst and cyst wall is highly recommended.

Role of sirt1 in cancer biology review article

SIRT1, an NAD+-dependent deacetylase, has been explained in the literature as a important factor in the regulation of cellular stress responses. Its expression has been shown to be altered in cancer cells, and it targets both histone and non-histone proteins for deacetylation and thereby alters metabolic programs in response to diverse physiological stress. Interestingly, many of the metabolic pathways that are influenced by SIRT1 are also altered in tumor development.

A review of trisomy 21 and its oral health implications

Down syndrome (DS) or trisomy 21 is one of the most common chromosomal abnormality associated with intellectual disabilities. It is characterized by delayed mental and physical development. With time increase in awareness about general and oral health of DS individuals has been reported among the parents and society. But still the difficulty in obtaining dental care due to disability, accessibility and dentist related factors seen as the barriers to utilization of oral health care services.

Heavy metal uptake by cucumber (cucumis sativus) grown on solid waste contaminated soil in Nekede, Imo state

The research was carried out to assess the level of some trace metals in cucumber planted on contaminated soil in Nekede, Owerri. The mean concentrations of Pb, As, Ni, Hg and Fe in the fruits of the cucumber plant from the topsoil were 0.256, 78.82, 98.84, 3.49, and 96.63mg/kg, respectively while the values for the subsoil were 1.24, 49.77, 96.32, 2.58 and 162.66 mg/kg respectively.

Test and analysis of energy saving effect of thermal insulation system of 600 mw subcritical thermal power unit

In recent years, the rapid economic development of China increasing power plant energy consumption, thermal equipment and pipelines as an important part of the plant, has a very large energy saving potential. To further improve the thermal power plant and power plant energy efficiency, should be systematically analysis of heat loss. In this paper, many representative sites are selected according to the operating conditions of the 600MW unit in Tuoketuo Power Plant.

The usual obturator prosthesis: about a clinical case

Maxillary substance loss offers a variety of anatomical and functional deficits that significantly influence the performance of maneuvering functions. Restoring substance loss after maxillectomy is a real challenge. Thus, despite the evolution of surgical techniques and the rise of microsurgery, the conventional obturator prosthesis still occupies a considerable place in the management of these patients. In this article, the authors propose to describe this prosthesis and to illustrate it with a clinical case.
