Hulling machine: Design, Fabrication, and Performance

The purpose of this research was to develop de-huller machine which can hull beans without broken parts. Specifically it sought to: 1. Find out the time rate of de-hulling; 2. Determine the efficiency of the machine; and 3. Find out the percentage recovery of de-hulled beans. Trial method was employed by the researchers which are within the realm or scope of true experiment. Statistical tools were utilized in the analysis of the data through the average value or mean. Mean was computed to determine the weight of coffee beans, time and percentage recovery of beans.

A cross-sectional study to assess the depression and Glycemic control among patients with diabetes mellitus at Smvmch, Puducherry

Background: Diabetes mellitus is a major health problem that is associated with psychological, as well as physical, complications, particularly depression. Depression and diabetes are associated with dysfunction of the hypothalamic – pituitary adrenal (HPA) axis, which manifests as subclinical, hypercortisolism, blunted diurnal cortisol rhythm or hypercortisolism with impaired glucocorticoid sensitivity and increased inflammation. Aim: The aim of the study is to assess the depression and glycemic control among patients with diabetes mellitus.

Comparison of passive damping solutions of LCL-filter based grid connected inverter

In order to interface with the power grid a filter is required for grid connected inverter. Usually L or LC filter are used. LCL-filter is a third order passive filter which is having more interest to use for grid connected inverter. Compared to L, LC filters, LCL-filter has high attenuation ability even with the lower values of L and C. As it is a third order filter, this filter suffers from stability problems around the resonant frequency. LCL-filter resonance causes a sharp phase step down of -180 with a high resonant peak which should be damped.

The flipped classroom: what can it bring to teachers?

The flipped class is the focus of immense interest in all spheres of education around the world. It has an undeniable appeal for teachers who wish to diversify their pedagogical approaches and try new experiences with their students. However, it seems necessary to understand how this approach offers real benefits, while little scientific research has demonstrated its effectiveness with evidence.

Adaptive fuzzy control for chemical continuous stirred tank reactor system with dead zone input

This paper presents the flexible adaptive fuzzy control method for chemical continuous stirred tank reactor, one of uncertain nonlinear systems. Objects of this method include input dead zone observed when controlling valve or motor current in practice. Adaptive fuzzy logic system is used to approximate the nonlinear systems. Compared with the previous method, this adaptive fuzzy control approximation is more flexible, so can be extened to the chemical continuous stirred tank reactor with dead zone of valve input control.

Esthetic success in complete denture

Esthetics naturally evokes harmony, balance and beauty. The success of the esthetic challenge involves many factors that the practitioner must take into account when rehabilitating total edentulous patients. The aging of the population had the effect of increasing the number of completely edentulous people, which gave back to the removable prosthesis all its importance and its capital role in prosthetic rehabilitation. It must satisfy the patient and be perfectly credible according to his age, sex and personality.

Analysis report on talent demand in smart cities

Inviting wits and attracting talents is one of the highlights for many cities over the past couple of years. Beijing, Shanghai, Wuhan, Chengdu, Xi'an, and Shenzhen are actually competing for talents with various attractive policies. Talents represent the motive power for the innovative development of cities because of their ability to learn better skills, make better products, and master better management methods within a shorter time.

Epulis fissuratum: pre-prosthetic surgical treatment in a total edentulous patient

The epulis fissuratum is a chronic pseudotumor lesion associated with the wearing of an unstable prosthesis that sinks into the soft tissues of the vestibule, causing the formation of reactive tissue. This lesion is favoured by the resorption of the alveolar bone in the elderly subject. The diagnosis is based on the clinical examination completed if necessary with a radiological and histological examination for lesions that are not recent. The treatment consists of the removal of the etiological factor and surgical removal of the mass with a new prosthesis to prevent recurrence.

Short implants for the management of strongly resorbed total edentulous: a case report

In implantology, the resorption of bone ridges, especially at the posterior region, is a constraint for standard dimensions implant placement, unless reconstructive surgery is envisaged, such as elevation of the sinus floor or augmentation of ridges, although widely used, these techniques, sometimes uncertain, require an additional surgical procedure, and an expensive cost. Hence the interest of short implants, which can offer us an alternative solution.

Lead (ii) removal from wastewater using modified biochar derived from rice husks and rice straws

Novel adsorbent was produced from rice husks and rice straw derived biochar. The adsorbent was synthesized by subjecting to pyrolysis agricultural waste and activated the product with thermochemical treatments to enhance its properties. The effects of alkali concentration, process temperature and reaction time on the agricultural waste derived biochar were assessed and results showed that the activation of biochar enhanced its specific surface area by 58.5 to 220.8 square meter per gram.
