Formulation and evaluation of metformin hydrochloride microspheres

Mono or multi nuclear materials embedded in spherical coating matrix are called microspheres. Microspheres are solid, approximately spherical particles ranging in size from 1µm to 1000µm .These are made of polymeric, waxy or other protective materials that are biodegradable synthetic polymers and modified natural products such as starches, gums, proteins fats, and waxes.Microspheres are small and have large surface to volume ratios. At the lower end of their size range they have colloidal properties.

Design and evaluation of ketoprofen as transdermal patches using different polymers

Transdermal delivery provides a leading edge over injectables and oral routes by increasing patient compliance and avoiding first pass metabolism thus increases bioavailability and efficiency of drugs. This route of administration may be particularly significant in infants and children because of their greater surface area to weight ratio. This delivery system is an effective means for introducing drugs into the blood stream by applying a patch to skin. Matrix type transdermal patches remain the most popular as they are easy to manufacture.

Effect of extraction solvent, extraction time and extraction temperature on total polyphenols content extracted by ultrasonic from syrian fresh olive leaves

Total polyphenols were studied in olive leaves collected from Syria-Lattakia (Qurdaha area). Phenolic compounds were extracted from fresh olive leaves using two extraction methods, maceration and ultrasound assisted extraction. The effect of extraction solvent concentration was studied using the ethanol-water mixture at different percentages (60,70,80%), and the effect of extraction temperature was also studied at (20,30,40°C), in addition to the effect of extraction time on the total polyphenolic content.

Formulation and evaluation of nutraceutical mix

Aswagandha is a medicinal herb widely used by the people to treat various disorders like diabetes, mental disease, asthma, inflammation, arthritis and tuberculosis. The plant Withania coagulans commonly called as aswagandha belongs to the family Solanaceae and is a rare, endangered and endemic plant species of India. The curative properties of the plant have ascribed to the presence of complex chemical substances such as alkaloids, glycosides, steroids, flavonoids, essential oils etc. which are secondary metabolites synthesized from intermediate metabolism.

Too early or too late? selection of time of onset of orthodontic treatment

There are two phases in orthodontics that most clinicians undertake: phase I which is the preventive phase and phase II which is the interceptive phase of orthodontics. Mixed dentition period serves to be the ideal period in carrying out treatments owing to the reason that theinvolved dental phase comprises of the permanent incisors and molars in the mouth along with the remaining deciduous teeth. During this period, skeletal development tends to be the main focus as compared to dental correction.

A novel greener alternative scoring matrix - based on twelve principles of green chemistry

Millipore Sigma created a unique web-based greener alternative scoring matrix, also known as DOZN™a quantitative green chemistry evaluator based on the 12 principles of green chemistry. The 12 principles of green chemistry provide a framework for learning about green chemistry and designing or improving materials, products, processes and systems. The DOZN™evaluatorscores products based on metrics for each principle and aggregates the principle scores to derive a final aggregate score.

Comparative study of anaemia with the degree of glycaemic control in type 2 diabetes mellitus in bangladeshi population

Introduction: Anemia is defined as a reduction in the hemoglobin concentration of blood, which consequently reduces the oxygen-carrying capacity of red blood cells such that they are unable to meet the body’s physiological needs. Several reports have indicated that anemia mostly occurs in diabetic patients with renal insufficiency while limited studies have reported the incidence of anemia in people with diabetes prior to evidence of renal impairment. Other studies have also identified anemia as a risk factor for the need for renal replacement therapy in diabetes.

Karyotypic studies in white seed variety of abrus precatorius l.

The genus Abrus precatorius L. belongs to the legume family Fabaceae. It has highly medicinal value. Roots are used as substitute for liquorices. Leaves and seeds are used in Ayurvedic medicine. The seeds are used as weights by goldsmiths. The present investigation was carried out on karyotypic studies in white seed variety of Abrus precatorius L. The chromosome numbers were found to be 2n=22. The Karyotype in white seed variety of Abrus precatorius L. was asymmetrical.

Trends in prevalence of diabetes in india and its associated factors

Diabetes is one of the most common chronic disease in the present world. Socio-economic growth and industrialization are rapidly occurring in India, the urban-rural divide in prevalence is narrowing as urbanization is spreading widely, adversely affecting the lifestyle of populations. Indians have a greater ethnic and genetic predisposition to diabetes so the younger people are also affected with diabetes. The burden of the disease is increasing and it is a costly disease for developing countries.

Effect and safety of low dose of mycophenolate mofetil and n-acetyl cysteine in interstitial lung disease (ild)

Background: In Interstitial lung disease (ILD), Glucocorticoids and immune-modulatory agents are mainstays of therapy. Only few studies with dose of 2-3 gm. /day have been performed for evaluation of role of Mycophenolate mofetil and N-acetyl-cysteine in ILD(IPF). Aims & objectives: In this study our objective were to examine the safety and efficacy of low dose Mycophenolate Mofetil (MMF) and N-Acetyl cysteine and to determine its impact on lung function in patients with ILD(IPF) based on the ILD subtypes.
