Effect of microbial secretion on inhibitory effect of phytonematode: a review

Plant-parasitic nematodes cause significant damage to a broad range of agricultural crops throughout the world. For decades, the control of phytonematodes has relied heavily on chemical nematicides. Recently, the use of chemical nematicide has been restricted due to their toxic effect towards the physical environment. So an environment friendly alternative for nematodes control is increasingly important. As the natural enemies of nematodes, nematophagous microorganisms offer a promising approach to control the nematode pests (Tian et al., 2007).

Quantitative determination of some phytochemical contents of various plant seeds and leaves of water, ethanol and methanol extracts

The present study found out percent composition of Alkaloids, Flavonoids, Saponins and Terpenoids from the leaves and seeds of Luffa acutangula, Luffa aegyptiaca, Cucurbita moschata and Momordica charantia. The water, ethanol and methanol extracts were prepared and the percentage of above contents were determined in different extracts. The RF values of all contents for different extracts of leaves and seeds were determined by Thin Layer Chromatography using various spraying agents.

Deranged adult performance and reproductive potential of the olive leaf moth palpita unionalis (hübner) (lepidoptera: pyralidae) by the non-steroidal ecdysone agonist, methoxyfenozide

The olive leaf moth Palpita unionalis (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) is an economic pest of the olive groves in Egypt and other olive producing countries in the world.

An electrochemical characteristics of promethazie hcl using ion selective electrodes

The highly selective and sensitive PVC based membrane sensor was fabricated by using 1,3,5-tris [(2,3-dihydroxybenzylamino) amino methyl]cyclohexane (L) as a neutral membrane carrier for the potentiometric determination of Promethazine HCl. The membrane with the composition of33% PVC, 64% Plasticizer, 3% PM-PMD (Ionophore) and 1% NaTPB was found to be best in terms of response characteristics of sensor assembly. The proposed membrane sensor has very low detection limit of 2.0 x 10-8 M, within the concentration range of 5.0 x 10-8 – 1.0 x 10-2 M, and has fast response time of about 10s.

An assessment of agricultural information needs of women rice (oryza sativa) farmers in the eastern agricultural zone of kogi state, Nigeria

This study assessed the agricultural information needs of women rice farmers in the eastern agricultural zone of Kogi state, Nigeria. It specifically ascertained the information needs score of women rice farmers in the area of technical, socioeconomic and cultural; identified the different sources of information available to women rice farmers in the area and identified the constraints in accessing agricultural information by women rice farmers in the study area. A three staged random sampling was used to select 180 women rice farmers for the study.

Analysis ofbiofilm and free cell components of streptococcus agalactiae isolated from bovine mastitis using fourier transform infrared (ftir) spectroscopy

Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) technique is a valuable tool for investigation of biochemical composition of bacterial biofilms.Attenuated total reflectance Fourier transform infrared (ATR-FTIR) spectroscopy was used to analyze and compare Streptococcus agalactiae bio film exopolysaccharide (EPS) matrix and free cell components.

Comparative indoor and outdoor aerosol pollution study of sensitive zones of bhopal city, India

Aerosol has recently become an issue of increasing importance in pollution studies due to its noticeable effects on global environment as well as on human health. Aerosol pollution has many sources, most of which are associated with urban development, industrial development, road, air and rail transport etc. Aerosol pollution study is novel research carried out first time in Bhopal city. Aerosols of the size 10 micron & 2.5 micron are being considered as main parameter for this study.Total twelve monitoring sites were identified in Bhopal city as sensitive zones for study.
