Immediate vs. delayed endosseous integration of maxi implants: a torque removal animal study

Statement of problem: Delayed loading is one of the concerns of implanted patients. Immediate loading can solve the problem and make patients more satisfied. Objective: The present study aimed to compare the removal torque of maxi implants under different loading (immediate and delayed) patterns. Materials and methods: This split mouth experimental study included 2 dogs. Impressions were made and then all premolars were extracted under general anesthesia. After a three months healing period, 3 implants were inserted in each quadrant (12 implants).

Supernumerary tooth removal using nitrous oxide - case report

Introduction: Supernumerary teeth are dental germs formed in excess by hyperactivity of the dental lamina in the beginning of the odontogenesis. The use of nitrous oxide in Dentistry is one of the vastly used types of sedations, once it has a good sedative effect, thus, decreasing patients’ anxiety and fear and also contributing to a slight analgesic effect. Aim: This work aims to report the case of a patient that presents four supernumerary teeth, being classified as fourth molars.

Anti oxidative status of nauclea latifolia leaves extract on ciprofloxacin induced oxidative stress in rats

The antioxidative potentials of Methanol extract of Nauclea latifolia leaves on ciprofloxacin induced oxidative stress and hepatotoxic damage in rats was studied. Forty mature albino rats of the Wistar strain weighing between 200g and 300g were used, divided into four groups of ten each. Ciprofloxacin (70mg/kg/day) for 14 days was administered; Plasma and liver homogenate antioxidants were measured.

Effects of season on the packed cell volume (pcv) of some wild fish species infected with trypanosomes in north-western nigeria

Hematocrit values (PCV) of infected and unninfected wild fish species were investigated in 11 months period (covering early rainy, late rainy, early dry and late dry Seasons) from 10 locations in Sokoto Kebbi and Zamfara States, in semiarid region of Nigeria. Interseasonal difference in prevalence was observed (P<0.05), while inter and intraseasonal reduction in hematocrit were observed from eleven locations. Only PCV of Clarias gariepinus and Synodontis nigrata from Lugu and Rabah locations showed statistical significance (P<0.05) respectively.

Drug resistance strangles in parasitized (gastrointestinal parasites) horses

The hazards of Strangles and Gastrointestinal parasites is major problems in equine farms. They cause losses and complications among ponies and aged horse. This study was concerned with the prevalence of atypical mild Strangles, GIT parasites, significant EPG and antimicrobial resistance Streptococcus equi subsp. equi. In equine farm. Nasal swab and faecal samples were collected from six stables in Horse farm (N = 37 horses) at summer’s season 2015. Isolation and identification of S.

Solving the puzzle: a case report of castleman's disease

Castleman’s disease (CD) is a rare entity that requires a high level of suspicion. The diagnosis of our patient was a challenge. The diagnosis of CD was missed in the first reading of mesenteric lymph nodes. If physicians couldn’t approach final diagnosis after extensive investigations, it is worth to review patient’s laboratory, radiological and histopathology results retrospectively to be sure that the diagnosis is not missed.

Seasonal features of exogenous melatonin and dosed hypoxia influenceson bone remodeling of young rats

The study was conducted on 72 young (3 months) male Wistar rats in spring (March-April) and autumn (October-November).Each experiment lasted 28 days. Animals of the experimental groups were breathing the gas mixture (GM, PO2 = 90 mmHg, the equivalent of 12volume per cent in nitrogen) in the mode 15 min deoxygenation/15 min reoxygenation during two hours. The other group of animals, exceptGM, was orally administered 1 ml of an aqueous suspension of melatonin at pharmacological dose of 5 mg/kg of body massat 10.00 a.m.

Knowledge and compliance of patients with ischemic heart disease’s for risk factors reduction

Background: Ischemic heart disease (IHD) is a commonest cause of death over the entire world. The objective of this study was to assess knowledge and compliance of participants for reduction of risk factors of ischemic heart disease. Methods: A descriptive study was conducted at Sudan Heart Center (SHC), Khartoum. A convenience sampling technique was used for selection of 106 participants who have recently experienced ischemic heart disease and were excluded the most severe cases.

an Investigation of enterobacteragglomerans (pantoeaagglomerans) and klebsiellapneumoniae from aborted mares

Enterobacteragglomerans (Pantoeaagglomerans) and Klebsiellapneumoniaare opportunistic Enterobacteriaceae, lactose fermenting and a Gram-negative rod. It is apprisedas commensal pathogens of animal and human.Isolation and identification of Enterobacteragglomerans (Pantoeaagglomerans) and Klebsiellapneumoniae from aborted mares were depended on the characters and features of colonies on blood agar plate and McConkey agar plates in addition to biochemical tests to isolated colonies from aborted cases according to Microbact™ Gram-negative system.
