The prevalence of hypertension in patients with chronic kidney disease in christ the king hospital aba, abia state Nigeria

Hypertension (HTN) is very common in patients with chronic kidney disease and its prevalence increases as renal failure progresses. Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a global public health problem, with a greater burden and prohibitive cost of care. This study determined the prevalence of hypertension in chronic kidney disease and identified its associated risk factors in patients attending Christ the King Specialist Hospital Aba, Abia State Nigeria. A total of 207 patients were examined in the area.

A cross-sectional study to assess the depression and Glycemic control among patients with diabetes mellitus at Smvmch, Puducherry

Background: Diabetes mellitus is a major health problem that is associated with psychological, as well as physical, complications, particularly depression. Depression and diabetes are associated with dysfunction of the hypothalamic – pituitary adrenal (HPA) axis, which manifests as subclinical, hypercortisolism, blunted diurnal cortisol rhythm or hypercortisolism with impaired glucocorticoid sensitivity and increased inflammation. Aim: The aim of the study is to assess the depression and glycemic control among patients with diabetes mellitus.

The flipped classroom: what can it bring to teachers?

The flipped class is the focus of immense interest in all spheres of education around the world. It has an undeniable appeal for teachers who wish to diversify their pedagogical approaches and try new experiences with their students. However, it seems necessary to understand how this approach offers real benefits, while little scientific research has demonstrated its effectiveness with evidence.

Esthetic success in complete denture

Esthetics naturally evokes harmony, balance and beauty. The success of the esthetic challenge involves many factors that the practitioner must take into account when rehabilitating total edentulous patients. The aging of the population had the effect of increasing the number of completely edentulous people, which gave back to the removable prosthesis all its importance and its capital role in prosthetic rehabilitation. It must satisfy the patient and be perfectly credible according to his age, sex and personality.

Epulis fissuratum: pre-prosthetic surgical treatment in a total edentulous patient

The epulis fissuratum is a chronic pseudotumor lesion associated with the wearing of an unstable prosthesis that sinks into the soft tissues of the vestibule, causing the formation of reactive tissue. This lesion is favoured by the resorption of the alveolar bone in the elderly subject. The diagnosis is based on the clinical examination completed if necessary with a radiological and histological examination for lesions that are not recent. The treatment consists of the removal of the etiological factor and surgical removal of the mass with a new prosthesis to prevent recurrence.

Prevalence of hepatitis b infection and possible risk factors among patients undergoing hemodialysis in Jeddah, 2015-2018

Background and Objective: Hepatitis B is considered as a potentially life-threatening infection in the liver caused by the hepatitis B virus. One of the high-risk groups to develop HBV infection is the patients undergoing hemodialysis. Despite the recent findings, information regarding the prevalence and determinants of hepatitis B infection among hemodialysis patients remain unclear in Jeddah due to lack of available studies.

The effect of electron density instabilities on dose calculation

Treatment plans are based on an anatomical dataset of the tumor acquired during the preparation stage using a kVCT (kilovolt computed tomography) scanner. Anatomical reference changes will occur during the treatment course, in some cases requiring a new treatment plan to deliver the prescribed dose. With the introduction of 3D volumetric on-board imaging devices, it became feasible to use the produced images for dose recalculation. However, the use of these on-board imaging devices in clinical routine for the calculation of dose depends on the stability of the images.

Immediate prosthesis from a to z

Total edentation is one of the most complex situations to manage in dentistry, both from a clinical and a psychological point of view. Currently, patients accept less and less to expose their oral disability (total edentation), immediate total prosthesis remains the best condition for the transition to edentulism and provides a psychosocial comfort (Fabris and Millet, 2010; Rosca, 2013). This prosthetic realization is a complex management because the patient has a painful past and may remain reluctant to the new therapeutic project (Pompignoli, 1998).

Financial probity, prudence and accountability as panacea for effective African pentecostalism

Financial probity, prudence and accountability as panacea for effective African Pentecostalism argued that money belongs to God. He who ever has money has God’s property in his / her custody having been made a steward who has the responsibility to disseminate same according to the desire of the owner. Right use of money leads to promotion; while wrong use of money leads to demotion. This is against the background of some contemporary malady in the approach or attitude to money among Pentecostal leaders in some quarters.
