New impacts of garcinia cambogia as sono/photosensitizer on ehrlich ascites carcinoma bearing mice

Breast carcinoma is a major health problem that threatens the life of women with an increasing need for anticancer therapy. The present study designed to examine the efficiency of using sono/photodynamic therapy (SPDT) in combination with Garcinia cambogia as sono/photosensitizer, for Ehrlich Ascites Carcinoma (EAC) therapy. The biochemical markers, hepatorenal injuries markers besides histopathological investigation were harnessed to examine the experimental groups after treatments. This work revealed that tumors from various treated groups of mice bearing the tumor showed different percentages of necrosis and tumor proliferation based on the type of treatment. Tumor excised from mice receiving SPDT with Garcinia cambogia treatment showed a significant increase of necrosis compared to other groups without Garcinia cambogia as a sensitizer. The group of mice subjected to the combination of SPDT in the presence of Garcinia cambogia, showed large foci distinct necrosis areas of large distinct foci of necrosis in the tumor and no tumor proliferation. In conclusion, this study unveiled the possible anti-tumor activity of Garcinia cambogia as sono/photosensitizer in combination with SPDT for EAC bearing mice.
